Greenlam has clinched 4-ticks for the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) Certificate for their Laminates range, the highest tier certification for green building products in Singapore. Receiving the award on stage at the SGBC Gala Dinner 2022, the event is held concurrently with the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Leadership in Sustainability Awards, to recognise professionals, organisations and building projects for their contributions and significant achievements in the development of a green and sustainable built environment.

The SGBP scheme is a certification for green building products and materials, ensuring that sustainability is integrated throughout the design and manufacturing process of green building products. As the most rigorous benchmark in Singapore, the certification provides transparency and credibility for those choosing what to use when building green into spaces and places.

Greenlam APAC Head of Marketing, Vivian Feng commented: “High Pressure Laminate, or HPL, is one of the interior product, when made inferiorly, can emit high levels VOC that can have harmful health effects on our loved ones. As a manufacturer, Greenlam has the absolute control to find ways to make a difference. One of the methods we’ve used is to substitute about 10% of our phenols to be made from cashew nut shells, a by-product from cashew nut processing. This has helped modify our resin technology and thereby improving the product flexibility and machinability, and at the same time reduced the emission of VOCs from the process and in the final product. With the SGBP Certification, developers, building owners, interior designers and specifiers can confidently select from a wide range of our laminates that can contribute to their BCA Green Mark projects and Singapore’s Green Master Plan of a healthier, greener built environment by 2030.

Creating beautiful spaces can never be at the cost of causing damage to our planet.
